Designers:Ying Gao and interactive clothing

Ying Gao is a Montreal-based designer mainly known for her innovative and experimental garments.Using sensory technology, the Chinese designer created clothing that responds to human interaction, sounds and light.

The Living Pod is a light activated organza that explores fabric manipulation and 3d textures while still maintaining an aesthetical appearance. Another project called (NO)WHERE (NOW)HERE  consist of two dresses made of photoluminescent thread and eye tracking technology that light-up when the viewer gazes directly at them.
What I really like about her collections is the idea behind them  which is owning less ,but better-designed pieces “as an alternative to the fast-paced production cycle of contemporary fashion”.The Post-Vernissage collection presents a structural design  by playing with textures and form.
Her work is a testimony to our contemporary changing world contributing to technological experimentation. The conceptual clothing remains an exploration of the interaction between the individual and its surrounding environment by bringing technology and fashion together.
