The beauty of the natural world will always be a fruitful source
for fashion and art meant to blur the line between reality and fantasy.
Today we’re looking at editorials and haute couture collections
that adopt a botanical setting conjuring a surreal,even fantasy-like
atmosphere. In the middle, the forest girl wears earth-imitating textures and
prints:Iris van Herpen’s dress (2nd image) inspired by thick tree trunks or Céline’s
fall 2013 collection mossy clutch (3rd image). Barbara I Gongini in her AW 2011
Collection keeps a dark eerie vibe with an earthly color palette:dark
greens,beige and browns.(last image)
Alexander McQueen’s
iconic Savage Beauty collection is a
perfect example for this concept.Nature was often the source of inspiration for
McQueen which through he idealised the feminine form. The most memorable piece
is probably the live flower dress. The fresh flowers from the dress started to
fall off one by one as the model walked creating a breathtaking moment.
A truly inspiring individual,Minori often approaches natural
themes for her looks. The Japanese shironuri artist chooses
flower petals for her make-up and delicate fabrics.
